Hit-Boy and Big Hit Are The Newest Father-Son Duo

Many notable father-son duos have been in the entertainment industry, from Bob and Jakob Dylan, Olu Dara and Nas, and Quincy Jones and Quincy Jones III. The newest duo on that list is the 4X Grammy Award Winning platinum producer Hit-Boy and his father, Big Hit.

After completing almost 20 years in prison, Big Hit was officially released in 2014. Shortly after his prison release, he appeared on “Grinding My Whole Life,” a hit single from his son Hit-Boy’s Interscope Records/HS87 debut compilation project titled “We The Plug.” Unfortunately, Big Hit was sent back to prison set to do another bid, this time for nine years. His son Hit-Boy didn’t let this stop his musical journey. Instead, he used it as motivation to give his father a better situation to come home to when released. He went on to produce for top-tier artists like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Travis Scott, and the list goes on. Hit-Boy was also listed as the sole producer and music curator for EA Sports’ “Madden 23” soundtrack. Adding to his list of accomplishments, he has won Grammys for Kanye and Jay-Z’s Niggas In Paris,Nipsey Hussle’sRacks In The Middle,Nas’sKing Disease,” and his work on BeyoncésRenaissance” album as well.

In May of 2023, his father, Big Hit, was again a free man, and his first requested destination was the “Surf Club,” a musical headquarters/studio that belongs to his son. Big Hit and Hit-Boy released a 10-track collaboration project titled “Surf Or Drown 2” in June of last year, showcasing the musical abilities of the father-son duo. The album was nominated for Best Rap Album for this year’s upcoming Grammy Award. Imagine being in a cell in May, and months later, you’re nominated for a Grammy; what a feeling. Shortly after their collaboration project, Hit-Boy announced that Big Hit would be releasing his highly anticipated debut solo album titled “The Truth Is In My Eyes.” His 17-track debut album holds features from Snoop Dogg, Benny The Butcher, Big Sean, Dom Kennedy, and many more.

Riding high off the success of his new album, Big Hit has been interviewed by Sway and Justin Credible and even has a viral freestyle video on the media platform “Barz On i95”. Big Hit has dedicated himself to being in the studio with his son daily. In one of those daily studio sessions, The Game arrived to do a feature for Big Hit. The Game is no stranger to the Surf Club, as he and Hit-Boy have recorded countless songs. Although he came to do one feature, he stayed for hours and ended up recording the nine-track project “Paisley Dreams” with Big Hit, produced and mixed solely by Hit-Boy himself. They even released a music video for the single “P Fiction” directed by Thirdeyeraz.

The Game pulled up on me and Big Hit 4 days ago and I was thinking maybe we ask him to get on the Bang Freestyle remix or something at MOST but instead he locked in with us for the rest of the night and we made a 9 song album. Here it is “Paisley Dreams” by The Game and Big Hit, executive produced Hit Boy
